Here at RTH, we are always discussing the importance of design, architecture and the public realm.
Hamilton slowly seems to be coming out of its architectural funk when it comes to new buildings.
Local building owners and businesses are renovating beautiful old buildings in the city. New additions and new construction in the downtown core are also beginning to include a more sustainable design with more attention being paid to the public realm and building materials.
We believe that Hamilton should set up an Architectural Review Board similar to ones in other cities like Vancouver. In the meantime, take a moment to vote for your choice in this year's Urban Design and Architecture Awards.
Let's hope the city will continue to promote good design and lead by example as they have recently with new residential buildings downtown and new city facilities such as the Central Garage and Woodward Environmental Lab.

I would be fully supportive of an architectural review board. Has RTH ever submitted a request to council for this initiative?
