The problem with knockdown sticks on such a tight turn is eastbound vehicles can still hit rail trail pedestrians. The curve is a hazard and needs to be protected by something that can stop a car from mounting the curb, because of the tight geometry and downward slope of this particular curve. Solid bollards would provide the same appearance but with crash barrier functionality. Tiny, negligible difference, repeats of the recent tragedy prevented.
