We don't need to turn into Toronto, but if we want the city as a whole to be economically viable, we do need our core to be more densely populated and walkable so that it can become the economic driver it should be. There is enough room in this city for every lifestyle, from the most dense urban living to the polar opposite rural extreme.

The problem is, if we don't nurture density in our core, and properly manage our infrastructure throughout the city, we will continue to be stuck in a downward deficit spiral, only spending just enough to barely squeak by, and constantly begging for handouts from the higher levels of government. And in this scenario, NONE of our chosen living arrangements will be able to be supported by our tax payments.

Those who are addicted to driving through Hamilton as fast as possible need to realize that they are preventing the core from realizing its productivity potential, and ensuring their own taxes continue to rise. We are all in this together.
