You're also not from Niagara Falls. Would you do the same if there were a Casino in Hamilton? Perhaps you might, but as Ryan has pointed out, multiple times, the general consensus of economics folks is that no, you would not. And with a Casino in the Falls, Brantford, and Toronto, you're drawing attendance from a mighty small area.
Personally, I'm with you--I couldn't go to a Casino, and stay in the Casino the whole time. Unfortunately (or, perhaps, fortunately), we're not the norm.
I'd like to think that putting a Casino downtown would result in an uptick in local restaurant business. Makes sense to me. But the reality is, it doesn't.
