I think that you are bargaining apples & oranges, J.N..
It's completely unconscionable that toxic waste is allowed to be part of the landscape & the environment for such long periods of time.
However, that does not make a good argument for bi-weekly garbage pick up. It's not the same thing.
Again, I refuse to accumulate dirty adult diapers, & pet waste for 2 weeks in the Summer.
The savings made from bi-weekly pick up would probably Not be applied to cleaning up toxins. I think we all know that.
(Maybe they will hire more bi-law officers to investigate complaints from neighbours over the smelly results of bi-weekly garbage pick up with the money saved?)
The money saved will go elsewhere, just as money to remove toxic waste has gone elsewhere in the past. That should never have happened! It should not keep happening!
