Let's keep in mind that Hamilton councillors consistently voted for LRT, McMaster to Eastgate. If it had stayed that way, we wouldn't be where we are now.
The big 'detour' occurred because the province decided we HAD TO have the LRT spur on James to connect the two GO stations to LRT. AND the province said that we HAD TO fund it by shortening the east-west line.
The James N spur never made any sense, and the province heard that clearly via the consultation process. So they cancelled it.
And yes,the mountain BRT detour was on us, a misdirectrd attempt to appease. But if we're agreed on Mac to Eastgate as originally planned, I hope we can now go ahead.
It was the province that derailed us. And it is the province that must fund Mac to Eastgate as we originally agreed. :)
