"places like" the north end? let's be honest - the north end is the ONLY neighbourhood with reduced speed limits throughout. and it's a trial... AND the trial wording prevents any other neigbourhoods from enjoying the same treatment for years.

If fast streets are so good for business, then why is it that our tax burden is unevenly carried by residential taxes? Why does the downtown consistently underperform? how long does the experiment have to go on before we realize it was a failure? it's been 60 years....

The same people who want to keep the fast cut-throughs are complaining about their property taxes. Newsflash: high taxes are the cost of destroying residential neighbourhoods and business areas by making cut through traffic the #1 priority.
