People-Centric Initiatives

In yesterday's RTH interview, Mayor Eisenburger asks, "Is [Hamilton] going to be a car oriented community or a people oriented community?"

Fortunately for Hamilton, the Mayor chose the latter. Here in Toronto it seems that a groundswell of people-centric pressure is afoot. The recent Walk21 Conference endorsed a number of pedestrian friendly initiatives designed to make pounding Toronto pavements a little more fun. Today's letters page in the Star featured no fewer than three well articulated opinions, each supporting the Walk21 proposals.

Among the innovative, people-centric ideas:

Clearly Hamilton - well, its Mayor at least - is on board with a bunch of people-centric initiatives. Perhaps the Mayor can add a few of these ideas to his platform too.

Union statio needs to beef up their bike parking situation. Provide covered parking with a security guard. The demand is there!
