Light Rail

Highway in the Sky

A Northwest US businessman met a delegation in Portland city hall to pitch his idea for a highway in the sky to ease congestion on the busy I-5 corridor between Portland and Vancouver, Washington.

His company plans to reuse old airplane fuselages and basically have airborne light rail-style vehicles zipping overhead instead of on the ground. The large frames that will be built every 1,000 feet to support the system will be outfitted with solar panels and wind turbines.

For more info, see their website. Perhaps we'll see an aerial tram coming to an escarpment crossing near you.
