Revitalization

South Stipeley Neighbourhood Association

Today's Hamilton Spectator carries a piece of great news.

A group of citizens in the solid, leafy neighbourhoods in Central Hamilton, south of Ivor Wynne Stadium, are holding their first meeting tonight to begin thenew South Stipeley Neighbourhood Association and Crime Watch program.

This is smack in the middle of Hamilton, an area long ignored by local politicians. Despite that, the growing group of citizen groups and neighbourhood associations is a sign that people care and are willing to do something to build better communities. Engaged citizens are the key to safe and friendly communities.

Obviously, council plays a role in the design of neighbourhoods, but nothing can beat a group of concerned citizens coming together to build community. If you live in this neighbourhood, head out to the meeting tonight and join this great new initiative in our city.
