Group Buying With A Heart

By Letter to the Editor
Published July 11, 2011

After reading one article after another describing the cold-hearted manner in which some of the more prominent group buying sites treat their customers and advertisers, it's nice to see one of these sites giving back to the communities that they serve.

Daily Deal Team appears to be doing just that. Each coupon sold on their site generates a donation of five percent of their profits to local Hamilton charities such as City Kidz and Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK).

Their deals look good too. I saw a recent deal for The Pearl Company's Art Bus Tour, a guided bus tour of the Hamilton Art Crawl. This tour is a Hamilton attraction that highly ranked on tripadvisor as one of the best things to do in Hamilton.

Other deals have included gym memberships, dog grooming, billiards and even custom framing.

After following them on Facebook and twitter, it's apparent that they are actively seeking more charities to raise funds for.

It's companies like this that can help change the way in which group buying sites interact with the communities they serve.

Sincerely
Laurie Schooley

We did too. It's nice to see that they are based in Hamilton and doing something to help our community
