Whitelaw Steps Down, Supports Whitehead

Bruce Whitelaw, candidate for Ward 8, has just issued a press release announcing that he is stepping down from his campaign. He has thrown his support behind Terry Whitehead, the incumbent. In the press release, Mr. Whitelaw is quoted saying:

The decision I am making is not a personal one but a political one. Ward 8 has to maintain a labour friendly councilor. My intentions are to step down as Ward 8 candidate and I ask all my supporters to back incumbent Whitehead. I thank my wife, my daughter and my friends for their support.

Whitelaw follows Jeff Bonner, another Ward 8 contender, who has already dropped out of the campaign. Bonner stated that he withdrew due to "circumstances of a personal nature."

The other Ward 8 contender is Kim Jenkinson.

seriously? a guy named Whitelaw was running against Whitehead?? That's sweet. He should have stayed in the race. No telling how many people would have checked the wrong name on election night. Could have been one of the greatest, accidental upsets in Hamilton history.

Where does Whitehead stand on bulling in our society? What is his own Son's track record at his Catholic High school? What is acceptable to him,an what is taught at home? The real question could be "There must be some base of truth to the kids talking about being bullied and his Son getting away with it from a visit from Dad to the school ?

I think a better question is "How does a man with hair that bad get elected in the first place?"

What's making all the ward 8 candidates skitter away, & How would be another question?

@ Ancopa "I think a better question is "How does a man with hair that bad get elected in the first place?"

That old standby, insider experience. Whitehead served as Chief of Staff for Mayor Morrow's final five years. Hey, everybody's gotta start somewhere.

The judges would also accept "Ask David Christopherson."

I spoke with the remaining contender recently and while we had a very interesting conversation on city issues, she does not apear to stray too far from the incumbents position on many key issues. Will she be a better bet than Whitehead? To me, that is not that hard so I still wish her well.
