During the February 15, 2017 General Issues Committee meeting, City Councillors rejected a proposal to add a light rail transit (LRT) station at Bay Street. That vote still has to be ratified at the City Council meeting on February 22, 2017. Please send a message to Council asking them to reconsider their vote against this important line improvement.

Dear Mayor and Council,

I am writing to ask you to please reverse the GIC decision and uphold the unanimous LRT Sub-Committee vote to add an additional LRT stop on King St at Bay St.

It should be easy to support this recommendation:

This development alone will generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in new property tax revenue for the City and bring economic vitality, jobs and new residents.

There is simply no good case for opposing this additional stop.

Even if you have doubts about the LRT project, please help ensure it generates the largest benefit for the city. If it is going to happen, we need to make sure it is the best project possible.

Did council reject this to be petty, as some sort of effort to undermine the system they don't want? There's no clear reason why that extra stop would be bad and every clear reason why it would benefit riders and businesses.

Kinda over the idea of using government dollars to benefit businesses. If businesses want it so bad let businesses pay for it. Why should taxpayers pay for a free ride for corporations who already dodge their fair share of taxes? You'll need a more convincing argument.

Yes, who in their right mind would want to build infrastructure to attract business? Pure insanity..

Yes, the government of Canada should never have contributed a cent to build the Trans-Continental Railway. All those potential businesses and wanna-be settlers in Western Canada should have ponied up to fund it in 1880.

C'mon. You're responding with logic and historical context? This is the internet.

ergopepsi: Just saw this response now. I think this is more a problem with replying as it's not clear who's responding to who. I recognised your sarcasm but was responding to KevinLove's sarcastic comment with my own sarcastic comment.
