We had a nice celebration of the new bike lanes on Charlton and Herkimer on Saturday evening. The event included bicycle polo and a cycle safety demonstration.
Some 250 cyclists were there, organized by the Hamilton Glowriders, heading off for their final ride of the year as the event finale.
I heard them say this was by far their biggest ride ever! To get a sense of how many people participated, I took a video of the cyclists setting off. It took four minutes for them all to eventually leave the park.

bunch of lazy slobs. Should be at work 8:30 on a Sat night, not at a community picnic/bike ride with their kids.

So I'm kind of surprised Ryan didn't talk about those unused vehicle lanes causing avoidable cycling congestion!:)

Those who look carefully will see me and my son Robert at the 0:29-0:38 mark. We are on the left side of the traffic flow. The distinguishing marks are that Bob and I are both over two metres tall and riding Dutch city bikes.
