This weekend - Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8 - is packed with events as three major community events - Doors Open, Jane's Walk and the West Hamilton Artists Tour - all coincide.
Doors Open is an annual event in which heritage properties across the Province open their doors for members of the public to visit and tour for free. This year, 30 Hamilton sites are opening their doors for tours and other activities.
With sites at locations between Waterdown, Dundas, Hamilton and Stoney Creek, there's something for everyone.
Jane's Walk is a series of free neighbourhood walking (or biking) tours held in honour of the great urbanist Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), who discovered great insights about cities by walking around them and observing closely.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Jacobs' birth, and there will be 47 tours in Hamilton across Saturday and Sunday, a few of them held more than once.
The West Hamilton Artists Tour (WHAT) is an annual event in which local artists in the Locke Street area open up their studios on Mother's Day weekend for public tours. This year, 26 artists will be showcasing their work across 13 studios.
To make your weekend event planning easier, RTH has combined all the sites of Doors Open, Jane's Walk and WHAT into a single map.
