Special Report: Bus Lane

Great Public Transit a Win for Everyone

Let's increase our tax base, attract new residents, and provide great public transit to all our citizens.

I urge Council to think about the city's future by supporting keeping the King Street bus lane and allowing staff to make improvements to it.

I am a new transplant to Hamilton. I work fulltime in Toronto (University of Toronto, as a researcher) and purposefully chose to live in Hamilton, moving here from Guelph.

I bought a house, I take public transit (HSR and GO), I pay taxes, I buy goods and services, and am an active volunteer (AGH, PanAm/Para Pan Games).

I know that many other people consider moving to Hamilton and reaping the many benefits the city has to offer, including affordable housing, a vibrant arts and culture scene, and other attributes.

But they expect great public transit options, especially those who relocate here from the GTA.

Let's increase our tax base, attract new residents, and provide great public transit to all our citizens. Drivers benefit from having a great public transit system too. It's a win-win for everyone.

This article is adapted from a letter to Council.

Please add your voice to the Support Hamilton Transit campaign to keep the bus lane.

What do you do when the people that claim to represent their constituents clearly don't?

Um, except that roughly 90% of the time over the past forty years, municipal incumbents have been returned.

Next idea...?

(The other flaw here is that you believe that your fellow constituents see things the same way that you do.)

Their really was no valid/legitimate reason to oppose the lane. Majority favor it. It is clearly about LRT. Who really stands to benefit from its cancellation and what are these councillors being paid to oppose it? This is the simple question for which we will not get answers because the system is designed to keep the masses oppressed.

McHattie was voted out!

Not sure how you get this. He wasn't an incumbent mayor.

Eh-eh-o eh-o

I was left to my own devices Many days fell away with nothing to show

And the walls kept tumbling down In the city that we love Great clouds roll over the hills Bringing darkness from above

But if you close your eyes, Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes, Does it almost feel like You've been here before? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

We were caught up and lost in all of our vices In your pose as the dust settled around us

Eh-eh-o eh-o

Oh where do we begin? The rubble or our sins? Oh oh where do we begin? The rubble or our sins?

And the walls kept tumbling down (oh where do we begin?) In the city that we love (the rubble or our sins?) Great clouds roll over the hills (oh where do we begin?) Bringing darkness from above (the rubble or our sins?)

But if you close your eyes, Does it almost feel like Nothing changed at all? And if you close your eyes, Does it almost feel like You've been here before? How am I gonna be an optimist about this? How am I gonna be an optimist about this?

If you close your eyes, does it almost feel like nothing changed at all

If by "Voted out" you mean chose not to run so that he could run for mayor, you're right. Otherwise...
