Cranksgiving is part bike ride, part food drive, part scavenger hunt.
Bring a bike, a bag, a lock, and at least $20 to buy groceries. You will ride around the city to designated checkpoints to purchase items on the manifest. All of the groceries collected will be donated to the food bank at the Welcome Inn Community Centre and delivered there by bike courtesy The Hammer Active Alternative Transportation (THAAT). Use strategy, brains, and speed to make it to the finish first!
How does it work? It's easy. You show up, grab a map and manifest with the list of stores and food items, figure out the best route, and start riding when we say "GO!". Visit the checkpoints and purchase the items on the list then get back to the finish line with your groceries as quickly as possible!
Race to win or participate at your own pace scavenger-hunt style. All bikes and riders welcomed with both a beginner (~10km) and advanced (~25km) route - lets have fun!
Prizes from companies such as Wike Bicycle Trailers, Arkel bike bags, Bern helmets, Showers Pass technical cycling outer-wear, and Keen footwear will be awarded in the following categories: 1st and 2nd place Male and Female, Heaviest Haul, Most Generous, and Furthest Traveled.
Free registration at Gore Park at 1:00pm, ride begins at 2:00pm sharp! Finish at Mulberry Street Coffeehouse. Prizes awarded at 4:30pm.
