Join a growing coalition of concerned community members and local organizations as we march from downtown Dundas to MP David Sweet’s office at 59 Kirby Avenue, Dundas to express our concern about Bill C-38, the Federal Conservative Government’s Omnibus Bill.
Bill 38, The Federal Omnibus Budget Legislation is complex as it addresses a multitude of issues of great concern to Canadians. A minority of Canadian voters may have elected a majority Conservative government, but did any of us vote for Bill 38? The federal government plans to push this legislation through before the end of the month.
When government attempts to limit debate and eliminate employment positions of experts and enforcement authorities entrusted to safeguard Canadians, they attack the core of our democracy.
A community group of Hamilton area organizations opposed to has organized a March for Democracy, designed to mobilize our group members and other concerned Hamilton area residents and to send a message to Conservative MP David Sweet.
The March will start on Friday morning at 10:30am sharp at Bankers Corners in Downtown Dundas (corner of King St & Sydenham Road). We will march from this location down King Street and up Hwy 8 to Mr. Sweet's Constituency Offices on Kirby Avenue.
Once outside the offices - at approximately 11:30am - we hope there will be an opportunity to speak with Mr. Sweet. There will definitely be an opportunity for organizational representatives to speak to the assembled group.
It's critically important that we get as many people out to the March for Democracy as possible. Bring your own signs if at all possible.
