I think location is the key here. Brantford's casino is on the edge of its downtown, which is one of the reasons its effect is neutral. I don't have a problem with casinos in and of themselves - I hope it stays in Flamboro - but it would be a symbolic blow to our aspirations as a city if it were made a centrepiece of our downtown.
Also, I'm curious as to why a driveway to driveway experience was deemed critical to the business case for the ticat stadium, yet not a peep about the driving convenience of all the well-heeled out-of-towners who will supposedly flock to the casino, has been uttered by downtown casino proponents. Funny that.
