According to a breaking news report over at thespec.com that Abdul Khan, a former director of water and wastewater treatment for the City is claiming that city staff "misled politicians about the real cost of plant upgrades."
He also accused senior staff of covering up safety concerns about drinking water in Lynden and diverting revenue from selling scrap metal into entertainment rather than city revenue.
Mayor Fred Eisenberger just issued a statement that the allegations "are serious and will be taken seriously."
The Mayor stated, "Lynden's water supply was never in jeopardy or compromised. ... To be absolutely clear, the City meets all of the Ministry of Environment drinking water regulations and standards."
He plans to put forward a motion to have the email from Mr. Khan added to the agenda for tonight's Council meeting. City lawyer Peter Barkwill "will lay out recommendations to Council during the in-camera portion of tonight's meeting."
He concluded, "As senior staff have been named in the allegations, myself and Peter Barkwell will act as the official spokespeople on behalf of the City."
Mr Khan worked in water and wastewater treatment from 2005 until this past summer, when he was terminated under a restructuring. He claims to have raised his concerns in February and June of 2009, but they were not addressed.

In a word, disasterous. Everyone involved should be asked to take a lie detector test, if they refuse, they have something to hide. When the Police come calling it's always best to be truthful, those that don't, and are found out by the evidence, should be charged, as is the law.

Not sure if you're being facetious but lie detectors are pure quackery. They don't work.

Isn't the new police chief's background in surveillance?
