EcDev: Pedestrians a 'Priority'

Who knew? Mayor Fred Eisenberger's proposal to create a pedestrian plaza at the Gore is exactly consistent with the city's Movement and Pedestrian Priority for economic development:

Prioritize the Pedestrian Environment
Create an 'Urban' Streetscape Profile within the City Core
Create an Organized and Legible Pedestrian Environment
Expand the Pedestrian Realm through Targeted Lane Reduction and / or Sidewalk Widening
Create Safe Pedestrian Street Crossings
Incorporate Urban Braille at Key Pedestrian Intersections and within Pedestrian Priority Areas
Identify and Develop Pedestrian Priority Areas
Establish In-street Pedestrian Squares at Special Use Areas [emphasis added]
Develop a Civic Festival or Parade Route Connecting the Civic Precinct to Bayfront Park
Utilize Off-Peak Street Parking as a Traffic Calming Mechanism
Slow the Traffic Down

Mayor Fred is simply proposing a development that the city's own plans already stringly suggest.

All of this pedestrian focus would be a good ramp up to the unveiling of LRT.

Hey, a little optimism never hurt anyone, right!?

I vote down for offensiveness and up for humour. I cast no votes based on my level of agreement.
