(We received this campaign from the HSR and invite RTH readers to participate. -Ed.)
The City of Hamilton has purchased seven 60 foot long articulated diesel-electric hybrid buses to introduce into our fleet in 2007. We, with the recommendation from the Provincial Gas Tax Steering Committee, are asking Hamilton residents for ideas on a special paint scheme for these buses. The winning artist will receive a monetary honorarium, their name displayed on the bus exterior and their creation will be seen through the streets of Hamilton for years to come.
Details of the Contest:
The winning design will be replicated and painted by the vehicle Manufacturer. To ensure the design can be easily reproduced at the factory and maintained by the HSR, we are limiting the palette to three colours with no blending. The paints used will be metallic. The following samples are similar to the colours:
Gold/Yellow
Blue
Silver
Paint cannot be placed on areas such as doors, windows, trim, wheels, bumpers or material joining the front of the bus to the back.
The roof of the bus must be the Gold/Yellow or Light Silver.
All entries must be submitted to the HSR - 2200 Upper James St. or City Hall 1st floor Reception to Cindy Slinn's attention, or email a pdf of your design to cslinn@hamilton.ca. All entries must be received by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2006.
Judging will take place on Monday, October 16.
An unveiling ceremony of all entries will be announced later this year.
Update: when we first posted this entry, we forgot to include a link to the PDF template for designing the bus (sorry about that!). Here it is:

"Our buses are, like, totally fuel efficient, so you can quit bitching about not having bike racks."
That made me snot out my nose. Thanks for the laugh Ryan.
I noticed that you didn't post the bus images for people to sketch on. They'll be up on the city's website soon. Otherwise, hard copies are available free of charge at Mixed Media, 174 James St North.
