Video: Save Sanford School

By RTH Staff
Published January 29, 2013

Joanna St Jacques has produced a video about the planned demolition of Sanford School.

Sanford Avenue School Hamilton, Ontario Canada. 1934-2013?

Contact your City Councillor and HWDSB Trustee and let them know the process for disposition of school property is broken. Ask them to STOP the demolition and allow for Expressions of interest.

The process hasn't worked and many have tried our best to save her.

It sickens me to think of how much of Europe's built heritage was lost in WWII. Why are we so casually and unnecessarily destroying ours? I believe that it has been proven time and again that heritage properties that are repurposed carry added value. We need to remind the city and school board that they are using our money. They need to listen to what we want done with OUR money,OUR buildings.

What's Rotary's role in this? I know that they have the Cathy Wever hub as a focus of their philanthropy and I've talked to a few members and they've repeated the lies about the school being in bad shape. Something's up here and they're hearing those lies from somewhere. Who?

The School Board is so drunk on power and stupidity it's not even funny. They're running amok on this city and won't stop until it's good and dead.

It is a sad day when this school will be demolished. I can’t even express the depth of my despair for my city and my neighbourhood by this.
