Ward 1 Councillor Brian McHattie's office just issued a news release stating that Urban West Condos at Aberdeen Avenue and Dundurn Street South will begin construction this coming Monday, July 4.
The project is ready to go: the demolition permit for the existing structure has been approved, as well as building permit and site plan approval for the new structure.
The demolition is expected to take a week, and excavation/remediation work will take the rest of the month.
This news comes fast on the heels of today's report that Stinson School will also begin construction next week.

Someone needs to start gathering daily stills toward a time lapse reel.

Boom-town, I like it. The demise of Hamilton has been greatly exaggerated. Amen to that. Hamilton should start a crane watch, there's a few of them reaching into the sky too.

Great news, I'm still waiting to see the Hamilton Grand go up, as with Queen and Main. Downtown will have of course turned a corner if something gets done with the Connaught.

also, the King/Queen 12 storey condo building is at the graveyard for Hamilton projects taller than 2 stories - the OMB.

The building is at the Graveyard? Umm King and Queen is the Freemason building, and La Luna so I'm a bit lost. Also what exactly do you mean by OMB?

OMB = Ontario Municipal Board. And I think jason probably means Queen and Main where the gas station used to be.

Beware that crews are also digging up a section between Locke and Kent. It's a real mess. Hopefully the patch work of road paving is unified in the near future.
