Raise the Hammer

It was obvious to me, as a follower of politics, how well-prepped Mr. Harper was for this debate. I couldn't help but think that the moderate and reasonable image he projected would likely fool many who have only a passing acquaintance with the disdainful and destructive practices of his regime.

Only if people are willing to really explore the issues and the record of this government and not be taken in by the parody of moderation he presented on Tuesday will they realize what a threat he and his ilk present to traditional Canadian values.

Oh geez... Steven Harper is in power, so the world must be coming to an end. Cuz you know, Canada is in such horrible shape right now. We would much rather be in economic prosperity like our neighbours to the South.

Mb, should you take the time to do a little research, you will quickly realize that Canada's current economic stability has nothing to do with the Harper regime and everything to do with the Liberal Paul Martin when he was Finance Minister. He was responsible for the Liberals leaving a substantial surplus to the Conservatives, who quickly spent us into a huge deficit even before the economic collapse of 2008.

As well, despite urging from the right wing to deregulate banks, the Liberals resisted, which allowed Canada to escape the worst of the recession.

While I know it is easy to listen to and accept Conservative propaganda, it really is more productive for people to think for themselves.

lorne, if you read my post, at no point, did I say the Conservatives were solely responsible for our economy.
I just think it's silly that people seem to still think of them as the 'scary conservatives'.

Do you see soldiers with guns standing on street corners?

Is Canada completely paved over with virtually no wildlife?

Are women relegated to housework only, with virtually no place in the workforce?

Contrary to popular belief, the Conservatives are not monsters.
