Express Train that Doesn't Stop

By RTH Staff

This may seem far-fetched for southern Ontario, a region in which express train service never starts, but here's a fascinating concept of an express train that never stops:

Instead, people climb into a shuttle waiting at the station. When the train pulls in, it slides under the shuttle and picks it up, carrying it away on the roof and leaving another shuttle behind.

As a result, all the time-consuming business of getting on and off is done in advance so the train doesn't have to waste time stopping.

Now that's express!

In a general sense I think this sort of thing provides us an opportunity to reflect on what kind of country we are or want to be in the future. Are we a highly advanced, creative and thoughful society or something much much less. I'm not prepared to offer an opinion at this time but it's obvious that many other countries are doing a number on us in that regard.

Cool! Similar to the post-bag that trains used to grab on their way through.

Non-linear thinking fascinates...and inspires me. Thanks for this.

While i love the concept and new ideas in general, Canada cannot be all things to all people. Ideas are relatively cheap but getting them off the ground is the expensive part. While i would applaud anything that gets Canadian Banks to support innovation better than they do, we should not beat ourselves up because someone outside our borders did something cool. Nor should we automatically hop on bandwagons that turn out to be duds or expensive boondoggles.

But take heart, if this idea is to get off the ground under any independent effort, you may well have the opportunity to invest in their IPO and profit handsomely. The question is: will you? That will show your true colours, no??!!

Heh, a great idea until too many people want to get off at my stop!
