Raise the Hammer
I lamented, after reading about the city's stimulus with list, that we were planing to squander the federal and provincial infrastructure money on roadwork. Thankfully, someone at the Province was paying attention.
The feds and province just committed $122 million in funding for Hamilton, and no road projects were included in the list of funded projects.
Liberal MPP Sophia Aggelonitis of Hamiton Mountain stated, "This is not about filling potholes. This is about building legacy priorities."
The money will be used on 14 projects, including: $42 million to upgrade the Woodward water treatment plant, $30 million for a sewage biogas project, $40 million for upgrading community and recreation centres, $25 million for a new emergency training facility, and $15 million for reservoir and pumping station upgrades, among a few other projects.
Hamilton is required to contribute one third of the total cost, and the money must be spent in the next two years.

Makes you wonder what politicians & bureaucrats think of Hamilton when we submit a list of pot-hole projects as an 'economic stimulus'. Thank God there are those politicians and bureaucrats to nix such requests.
It's no wonder Politicians/Businesses/Big-Name Retailers/Canadians don't take Hamiltons seriously; Just look at City Staff's priorities!
