Bikes are great for business, and the Bicycle Friendly Business (BFB) program from Share the Road recognizes business efforts to encourage a more welcoming environment for bicycling employees, customers and community.

The program is not just for businesses. It's also for non-profits, colleges, and so on - any organization that has employees! I encourage you to apply.

Applications for organizations and businesses in Hamilton are free, so it's a great opportunity for all of the organizations doing awesome work on active transportation in Hamilton to get some recognition, and to come up with some new ideas for ways that they can be even more bike friendly!

Applying to the BFB program allows you to take stock of your efforts to promote a healthy workplace, and can shed light on new, low-cost ideas to make cycling easier.

Businesses that are already doing great things for cycling will gain recognition through an internationally recognized program, and all businesses that apply get detailed, customized feedback outlining priority next steps to take in order to get to the next designation level.

We'd love to see more applications come in from the City of Hamilton, so please encourage any organization you're associated with to fill one out. I promise it doesn't take too much of your time!

The application form can be accessed online and you can also find more information about the program. Feedback from businesses that have applied to the program already indicates that the application should take no more than 30-60 minutes of your time to complete.

Due to scheduling conflicts, we're extending the application deadline until next Wednesday, September 16. But the earlier you get your application finalized and submitted, the more time we will have to make sure your feedback is done and in your hands before October.

As always, I remain available to answer any questions and to help with whatever I can.
