The menu at Café on the Bay puts the focus right where it belongs - health and taste.

While riding my bike down to the waterfront recently, I stumbled upon a new café in the water side of the Marine Discovery Centre on Pier 8. Let me tell you - Hamilton needs more of this.
My wife and I have returned a couple of times for lunch and a few other times for a coffee. Cafe on the Bay is destined to become a favourite in Hamilton. As if the view isn't enough of a reason to return, there's the food and the coffee and the wonderful folks who run the place.
Let me say this: if you're a burger and fry type, this place isn't for you, although it should be. The menu at Café on the Bay puts the focus right where it belongs - health and taste.
My first meal was a pressed pannini full of mixed deli meats and a wonderful kind of cheese that I can't pronounce. The second trip landed me a pressed three-cheese pannini that was equally amazing.
The sandwiches and wraps come with a side of organic greens with a balsamic vinaigrette reduction dressing. My wife and I had never tasted a salad like this in our lives.
The coffee is equally good: organic, fair-trade coffee ground as each pot is made fresh. The coffee doesn't sit around getting old like most places.
The two folks who run the place are also a pleasure to chat with and are very friendly. I've told several people about this new café at the waterfront and I hope to see many more like it in the future.
Things are definitely moving along at our waterfront and the Café on the Bay is one of the more exciting developments to come along in an area full of exciting developments. I urge all Hamiltonians to get down to the waterfront and enjoy this wonderful, local business. You won't be disappointed.
