I also cringe everytime that people cower from someone who is obviously mentally ill

I know every single resident of the group home next door to my home by their first name and many of them are bi-polar. We always greet each other everyday and I am not ashamed to admit some of us exchange hugs when we meet on the street, with an occasional kiss on the cheek:-)

Sure there are those bizarre moments when certain residents will be sitting all by themselves and start laughing uncontrollably and this does cause some neighbours and our house guests to feel a little uneasy.

...even in all that darkness, there can be some sweet moments...

There are also times when I'll hear one of the senior women at the home singing, "Oh what a beautiful Morning..." and I'll sing right along with her, although we must sound like goats moaning in the pasture.
