Nowhere in this discussion have you articulated an actual case for mandatory bike registration. Your bare assertion of that claim is not supported by any evidence. You have concocted a phantom risk that is not in evidence in any real places. Many European cities have achieved cycling rates far higher than we currently have in Hamilton, and they have not encountered any problems for which registration is a solution. In fact, what we consistently find is that when a street is redesigned to increase the rate of cycling, it becomes safer - safer for everyone who uses it. Registration is nothing more than a dodge to punish and inconvenience cyclists and hence deter cycling.
