New Documentary on Campaign to Save Parkview Secondary from Closure

Documentary filmmakers Operation Maple have produced a video about the campaign to save Parkview Secondary School from closure:

The documentary features interviews with Jordan Williams, a Parkview student who organized a student protest; Carla Troke, Jordan's mother; Gary Santucci, co-owner of The Pearl Company and a community supporter; and your humble RTH editor.

The Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board voted last year to close Parkview, demolish both it and neighbouring King George School (already closed), and build a new high school in their place to serve the lower city.

The Board will also buy back the nearby Scott Park Secondary School (after having sold it to a developer just a few years ago), demolish the building and turn the site into a 165-spot parking lot for the new school.
