The Brian McHattie Campaign website has launched. The site features a modern design including the ability to collect donations directly from visitors.
McHattie was the first person to formally register his intention to run for mayor, and unsurprisingly is also the first high-profile candidate to launch a website for his campaign. The site features a list of the issues he intends to focus on, which consist of the following:
Stronger Neighbourhoods
To ensure neighbourhoods are defined by their residents, not by their boundaries.
Smarter Growth
To make Hamilton better, not just bigger.
Healthier Environment
To ensure our built and natural environments feed our lives, not starve our future.
More Open Government
To ensure public information and procedures assist all residents, not just some.
More Jobs
To make working in Hamilton a personal choice, not a personal challenge.
Citizens who are familiar with McHattie's record will likely be able to anticipate some of McHattie's positions on issues like "smarter growth". However, a detailed platform is not yet available and what he intends to do to create "more jobs", for example, is not yet apparent.

McHattie's got my vote, I can only hope Jelly runs for his seat.

I believe Jason Allen is one of McHattie's frequent volunteers/supporters and he's running in Ward 1 - he seems to be well-positioned as McHattie's (as-yet unendorsed and unofficial) "successor" for the ward seat.

Sandy Shaw might have some star power to propel her forward. I look forward to hearing from all the candidates.

Oddly enough, this link works as a somewhat effective guide on which councillors need to go.

Note how Urban councillors McHattie, Farr and Morelli (god rest his soul) don't even reach a thousand in expenses and Collins barely passed 1,000 yet the hyper suburban mountain councillors in favour of expanding the urban boundry, Scott Duvall and Terry Whitehead spent well over 10 and 8 grand respectivily. I just can't see any justification for a councillor's expense spending being allowed to eclipse the mayor's.
