Community In Motion Active Transportation Awards

A new City initiative called Community In Motion is offering Active Transportation awards for individuals and organizations who have helped to support active transportation in Hamilton.
The program offers awards in six categories:
- Bicycle-friendly business/organization
- Pedestrian-friendly business/organization
- Transit-friendly business/organization
- School of the year
- Advocate of the year
- Media award

You can download the submission package [PDF]. The deadline for nominations/submissions is August 31, 2012, and winners will be announced at the September 23, 2012 Open Streets event.
Ryan McGreal, the editor of Raise the Hammer, lives in Hamilton with his family and works as a programmer, writer and consultant. Ryan volunteers with Hamilton Light Rail, a citizen group dedicated to bringing light rail transit to Hamilton. Several of his essays have been published in the Hamilton Spectator, and he occasionally blogged for OpenFile Hamilton.
