IT doesn't take rocket science to see that Hamilton has little concern for economic development. Having recently approved the capital budget, council has imposed a 1/2 percent levy increase which will net the city $86.7 million in additional cash from homeowners struggling to make ends meet. In return, the city has earmarked a paltry $2 million for economic development.

Couple this with the 4.25% increase to our water/sewer/hydro bills at an average of $24/year for the average conservation minded consumer with 162,000 customers is an additional four million dollars.

So the city usurps $90 million from its struggling citizens and businesses in a consumer economy frightfully depressed and in return, burps up $2 million for economic development. I fail to see how this will assert any positive impact towards creating the jobs we so desperately lack.

My friends, the only thing which will save Hamilton or Canada or the world from total systemic financial collapse, which is a mathematical certainty and a fact, is a full blown Jubilee. If you don't know what that means then Google-IT; I've grown weary of lending to hyperlink controversy, to-tally interest-free.

Austerity is becoming a royal pain even for the Queen!
