Police are asking for help to find the motorist who struck a cyclist last night and failed to remain at the scene.

At 9:10 PM on Wednesday, July 4, an 89-year-old cyclist was riding south on Grays Road North near Highway 8, when a black Nissan with silver trim, also heading southbound, hit the cyclist and knocked him to the ground. The vehicle "sped off" through the intersection at Highway 8 and did not return.

The cyclist was taken to hospital and is reported in serious but stable condition.

If you know anything about this and can provide any information about the driver, please contact Hamilton Police Division 2 at 905-546-2907 or call Crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
