Join Hamilton Naturalists' Club Field Events Director and local birder Rob Porter on a birding hike through McMaster Forest Research Site, a former potato farm originally purchased by McMaster University in the 50s that is now a conservation and biology research site that includes a tallgrass restoration project in progress.

Notable breeding species here include Blue-winged Warbler, Yellow Warbler, Field Sparrow, Song Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, Eastern Towhee, Scarlet Tanager, Barn Swallow, Baltimore Oriole, American Woodcock, and many more. We will be discussing identification of birds species and their breeding behaviours, as well as an ongoing year-round survey of bird species at this site.

Please note this is a natural space with no infrastructure, so there are no facilities on site or at the parking area.

Event hosted by Hamilton Naturalists' Club.
