Amnesty International has done extensive research into the use of CEWs over the past decade. Concerns can be placed into two broad areas- the potential for death, and the potential for abuse. While it is clear that being shocked by a CEW is less lethal than being shot by a gun, per AI's research, most Taser use is in situations where resort to a firearm would never be considered. Therefore Amnesty International recommends that Taser/CEW use be restricted to those situations when a gun would otherwise have been used.l

Tasers are just another compliance tool now. They are not used in the same manner a gun was/is. If it's done that way, I have no problem with converting all handguns to tasers and letting supervisors carry loaded firearms. But that's sadly not the case. If you're combative, they'll tase you. Not complying fast enough? Tased. Do they keep logs on when the tasers are drawn? When they are fired? For how long it's been fired for (ie. 5 seconds, 10, 30)?
Enough of this 'we need it to do our jobs' nonsense. If I were to go in to work tomorrow and request all new equipment, accessories, and 'nice to have' type things I would never make it back to my desk, I'd be asked to leave. Why does nobody stand up to these bullies?
