AFD is seeing its third year, which means more participants, more audiences and a bigger impact.
Animal Freedom Day is an international annual event that takes place to help raise awareness towards the environmental crisis, human health, the hunger famine and animal welfare. Each consecutive year of AFD an extra day is added where individuals are encouraged to go animal-free.
Animal Freedom Day was initiated due to an upcoming documentary film 'Don't Eat Me' (see the sneak peek for the film). The sole purpose of the film is to raise awareness about our diet intake and consumption of meat and animal by-products.
Both AFD and DEM have support from prominent individuals such as Woody Harrelson, Pamela Anderson, Moby, Weird Al, David Suzuki, Nigel Barker, U.S. Congressman Dennis Kucinich, and many others.
This event is continually organized by Nadia Masoudi, who founded AFD when she was just 18 years old.
Every year AFD is also accompanied by a live webcast event. This year it will be hosted at The Green Smoothie Bar, the first raw vegan, completely organic smoothie establishment in Canada.
Viewers can access the event and see as many musicians, performers and other talented individuals come out to show their support for AFD.
The webcast is available on: animalfreedomday.com, newscliptv.com, and www.ustream.tv/channel/animal-freedom-day.
In addition, this year AFD will introduce its new initiative on incorporating healthy vegan meals into schools, which they have already begun doing in Guyana, South America feeding a school of over 400 children. This initiative which is called "Happy Tummies, Happy Kids"will be featured within the webcast.
In addition, there will be other surprise AFD global initiatives that will be announced during the webcast.
