I agree with everything that Brian McHattie said here. Why, oh why with all Hamilton has going for it, are we still rolling over & playing dead to get investment here? There are many reasons why Hamilton is a good place for a company like Maple Leaf Foods to locate here, but we already sent them running away a few years ago. But now it's, " Roll out the green carpet?" Maybe our huge tax bills convert into easy cash to be thrown at corporations? Of course there is still all the foolishness @ City Hall, that seems to want to prevent business' from opening in The Core. Tales of that stuff get out & business runs away. Why was a grocery corp. that vacated the Core allowed to put a provision on the property -After it left, that no other grocery corp could open there? Do they still own the property? If not, Who/Why would any City allow a vacating entity to do that?!! Look at what's going on in the 'Burbs, & compare those costs to what being spent Downtown. It's absolutely ludicrous to compare the Sprawl Money to the big fat Mostly Nothing that the Downtown has gotten. (& then complain about having to subsidize the Downtown in taxes-?)
