On reading a road sign that states "Stop for Pedestrians" he (Tom Vanderbilt) wonders, "Why not just write, 'Stop for people'?"

This reminds me of something I wrote not too long ago, and I quote, ergo:

...you won't get very far in this peanut gallery if you don't butter up our bikes with some Netherlands because we really don't care about "the people"; We likes much better, them pedestrians.

If the royal "we" really cared about people, we would fight to renew and preserve the health of our children and maybe then our brain dead kids with ear buds and cell pads wouldn't get run-over by GO Trains filled with hardworking moms and dads heading to their menial jobs for unfulfilled dribs and drabs.

What is interesting to note here, is that theSpec still serves the link informing "commuters" about delays, but has pulled the "human interest" story sometime today.

I personally believe we all need to slow down no matter how we find our feet stumbling around.
