A cyclist struck by slingshot missile in Ancaster last night switched gears and chased down his attacker – in a truck.

The 51-year-old man was cycling down Shaver Road at 6:30 p.m. when he was hit by an unknown object launched by a slingshot-wielding teen in a passing vehicle, said Hamilton police spokeswoman Catherine Martin.

The victim, whose shoulder was cut by the flying projectile, pedaled to his nearby home, got in his truck and gave chase to the offending blue Ford Focus.

Martin said the man successfully tracked down his slingshot attacker, “cut off” the fleeing vehicle and its four occupants with his own truck and called police.

A 17-year-old Hamilton male is charged with assault with a weapon.
