Ugh, get over yourself already.

Bay Street runs right through a dense residential neighbourhood and carries 5-7000 cars a day, which it can easily accommodate on one lane. Adding a two-way bike lane is taking nothing away from driving. All it does is take an unnecessary excess car lane and make better use of it.

Every time the city adds high-quality cycling infrastructure, the number of people taking bike trips increases. Do you know who those people are? They are people who wanted to ride a bike but couldn't because there was no safe way to do so.

I'm sure Jeremy Bentham would have some choice words for people who insist that our transportation network should force nearly everyone to use the most expensive, poisonous and dangerous mode and actively deter all the cheaper, safer, healthier and cleaner ways of getting around.
