The reason we haven't heard solutions from the opposition is because it's a hard problem without any easy solutions.

The NDP plan [PDF] has some interesting ideas in it, but aside from buying back the private Hydro One shares and tinkering with the pricing model, the bulk of the plan amounts to: we'll convene a bunch of experts and figure out what to do.

I mean that literally:

New Democrats will work with an independent panel of energy experts and planners, businesses, labour, watchdogs, public power administrators, and consumer and environmental advocates to create systemic changes that will allow the government to meet or exceed the goal of 20 to 30 per cent in permanent savings in a way that’s responsible and reflects the reality of Ontario’s electricity needs.

Meanwhile, the PC plan is, um, forthcoming.
