By all analysis, operating and maintenance costs with LRT will be lower than equivalent BRT and bus transit (when comparing like-to-like service levels). This is in large part due to LRT requiring fewer operators to move the same number of passengers, partly also because they eliminate internal combustion that fuels buses. LRT vehicles also have an expected lifetime 2x that of buses (30 vs 15 years).'

The Brampton LRT analysis (screenshots here: https://twitter.com/fightgridlock/status... suggested the city would save around $300,000 per year over with LRT compared to existing bus options.
