Desperate for employment in my youth I worked for a payday lender for 6 weeks. The vast majority of the borrowers were repeat customers. When they eventually ran into default we were instructed to arrange a PAD to coincide with their paydaay or even the date we knew they'd be receiving a social assistance payment such as the baby bonus. Of cousre, having expected that money to be in their account people would often post date cheques for utility payments to that day. Without the necessary funds the cheques would bounce and they would potentially incur multiple NSF fees, putting them further into debt and in trouble with companies providing essential services. People have no idea just how predatory these companies are.
