I agree that the main (no pun intended) argument is for Main to add some westbound lanes to improve traffic flow, navigability and to calm traffic.

2-way King would improve access, but I agree that adding LRT would essentially do the traffic calming. We should wait for the actual plan to be released in May to see the arguments for 2-way based on centre running (as opposed to the original curb running design). I expect it is really about traffic flow and providing more ways for motorists to reach destinations along the line.

It's interesting that Dreschel picked up on the fact that traffic exiting driveways and parking lots along the line would only be able to turn right ... without reminding readers that currently drivers can exit in only one direction along the one-way portions of these streets! Two-way conversion of Main would potentially give motorists the freedom to turn both ways!
