I often think of this around snowfall, when people don't clear their sidewalk, or if they do, they only do a very narrow strip that is completely inaccessible to many users. Or when the sidewalks are clear, but there's inaccessible snowbanks left by plows at each intersection. I am confident / hopeful that people don't know the impact they are having, and that if we made more people aware, they might take the extra time to get it done right aka accessibly. On a more positive note, I asked Goodness Me on Locke to make their single-step entrance more accessible a few years back, and they did within a short time frame - not a standard slope ramp (there's not room), but better than a step. In fact, the short time frame makes me think they were likely already thinking about it, which is positive. It may be only one store, but it is one store. Thanks for sharing this article, raising awareness and building capacity for a more empathetic and accessible community.
