If we can apply for federal help (grant, free loan, etc) for a good mixed-income development, then we should go for it.
We have friends who have to roomrent in Stoney Creek because they couldn't find affordable options locally
As we welcome syrian refugees (CBC.ca), it becomes of a bigger urgency. It is a good time to discuss affordable housing options, in developments that are designed to integrate rather than alienate. Given other revitalization initiatives in Lower City (including those sparked by the new LRT) that are well under way, we can't delay the mixed-income-development discussion.
