The price differences between different types of gondolas can be an order of magnitude. We don't need an 8-person closed-capsule gondola with large end stations and fancy architecture. Also, London UK was a very expensive place to build that gondola.
What we're talking about is a more basic, 4-person open-bucket gondola with only simple off-the-shelf poles and stations -- nothing custom -- something that is more utilitarian and has more in common with a small-hill ski lift than a luxury gondola. I got price quotes and multiple sources agree we can keep it under 10 million (e.g. 3-5 million) with a few embellishments.
